Quality Of Light Affects Pictures
Lighting can make or mar a photograph and that's why all digital photography lessons provide tips on lighting. There are three basic lighting for photography: front lighting, side lighting and back lighting. All of them provide different qualities to the photograph.Success in photography depends on the quality of light and the way that it is used to enhance the composition. Amateur photographers who are working within the studio need to learn all about photography studio lighting.
Among the different lights that can influence the success of a photograph are hard lights and soft lights. Hard lighting is found in natural settings on a bright and sunny day; however, photographers can recreate this same effect through photography studio management.
The problem with hard lights is that they create very bright and very dark areas in the same scene. An example that is often used in photography tutorials and forum is the picture that is captured by a camera when only the camera's flash is used as a source of light.
Soft lights are more camera-friendly. They ensure success in digital photography by creating smooth lighting with few shadows. Cloudy days and large shaded areas offer soft light with no harsh shadows or intense bright spots.
Through photography studio management and studio lighting, photographers can create different looks for their picture. Front lighting through studio lights illuminates the portion of the subject facing the photographer. This is the easiest light for the photographer to deal with.
Side lighting through photography studio management is perfect when the photographer wants to emphasize texture, dimension, shapes, or patterns. Side lighting sculpts a subject, reveals contours and textures.
