Creating A New Background
Here we will talk about selection tools, background effects, and how to calm the client that doesn¡¯t like your choice of background (because they didn¡¯t bother to turn round and look for themselves during the photo shoot or for whatever reason they want the background modified).
First thing you need todo is remove the subject from the background or the background from the subject. You can use several tools to make selections and it basically comes down to personal preference. These tools include, lasso, magnetic lasso, magic wand, and extract. There are more, but these are the most efficient.
The Lasso tool 
is a freehand selection tool.
This means that wherever you move your curser,
your selection will be made.
The Magnetic Lasso tool
is very similar to the
regular lasso tool. The difference is that this
tool makes a selection by snapping to the edges of
defined areas in the image.
We use this tool 50% of the time for our selections.
