Is digital good enough yet?
So, here's the big friggin' million dollar digital question:
Is digital good enough yet?
Aaaahh, c'mon! Gimme me a break. This argument is so old I almost deleted it off this page. But in case there are a few dinosaurs reading this, and you know who you are, I will say this:
Digital will beat the pants off of film any day of the week, month or year!
Especially for the portrait and wedding guys. And that's us! Don't risk being a dinosaur. I mean, look what happened to them.
So, how do you know if you're a dinosaur? Two easy questions to ask yourself:
Question ONE: If you asked yourself the question "Is digital good enough yet?", yoooouuuu 're a dinosaur.
Question TWO: Am I using film? That's like saying: "Hey. Lookey me, I'm a big giant T Rex, I have big teeth, huge claws, a big appetite, a loud roar and I make a lot of noise that scares the hell outta all the other critters in the jungle. I got nothing to loose. Why, evolution ain't got nothin on me!! ahahhhahhahahhahha..... .eehehhhehhhhhahha ahhahhhhehhhhahhh........ mmoommmooommooaaahhahahh (delirious sinister laughter here).
Hey, it's not that we're big believers in digital, well yes, it is actually, but there is so much more to it. How can I express it? It's such a heart-felt, deep, profoundly felt sentiment that words can barely justify the feelings I have for the art...weep, sob, oh there, look what you've done. I've started to cry.
Okay, let's say you're not a dinosaur. You've been at it for years. And you have had complete and total satisfaction and have achieved nirvana like experiences and have reached a new life, on a new plane, like we do each and every day, because of digital photography.
Then you've GOT IT! That's what we're talking about. You know, that feeling you get when you're out shooting, say a wedding, a portrait, a landscape or a commercial gig. No matter! Something new is at work and I know that the technology called digital photography, love it or hate it (blasphemy!!), has been the catalyst, the reason, the driving force, the pulse, the heart beat.
